How to play Memory Match
Memory Match — also known as Concentration, Pairs or Pelmanism — is a game of pure recall. All the cards start face down in a grid, each one hiding a symbol that appears exactly twice. On your turn you flip two cards: if their symbols match, the pair stays face up; if they don't, both flip back over and you try again. The aim is to clear the whole board, and the challenge is remembering where each symbol was so you can pair it up later. Fewer moves and a faster time mean a better score.
Board sizes
- Quick — a 3×4 board with 6 pairs. A gentle warm-up you can clear in a minute.
- Classic — the traditional 4×4 board with 8 pairs.
- Challenge — a 4×5 board with 10 pairs for a longer memory test.
- Expert — a 5×6 board with 15 pairs; the full concentration workout.
Strategy tips
- Work in a pattern. Flip cards row by row early on so you build a mental map of where things are.
- Lead with what you know. Once you've seen a symbol, turn its partner first the moment you spot the second one.
- Don't rush. The move counter rewards good memory, not speed-clicking — take a beat to picture the board.
- Chase your best. Your fewest-moves and fastest-time scores are saved per board size, so you always have a target to beat.
