How to play Five Dice
Five Dice is the classic roll-and-score dice game. Each turn you roll five dice, keep the ones you like, and roll the rest again — up to three rolls in all. Then you must score the dice in one empty box on your scorecard. There are thirteen boxes, so a game is thirteen turns, and every box is filled exactly once, even if that means scoring a zero. The skill is in the choices: which dice to hold, when to stop rolling, and which box to spend on a disappointing roll so the valuable ones stay open.
The scorecard
- Ones to Sixes — the total of the dice showing that face. Reach 63 across these six and you earn a 35-point bonus: that is three of each face.
- Three of a kind / Four of a kind — the total of all five dice, if at least three (or four) match.
- Full house — three of one face and two of another, worth 25.
- Small straight — four in a row (1-2-3-4, 2-3-4-5 or 3-4-5-6), worth 30. Large straight — five in a row, worth 40.
- Five of a kind — all five dice the same, worth 50. Every further five of a kind adds a 100-point bonus and can be scored in any open box at its full value.
- Chance — the total of any roll. Your safety net.
Modes
- Solo — chase your best score.
- vs CPU — a relaxed computer opponent; Sharp CPU plays to protect its big boxes.
- 2 players — pass the device between turns.
- Daily — the same dice for everyone today, so scores are worth comparing.
Tips
- Early on, aim for the upper bonus: three fives or three sixes in their own boxes is worth far more than it looks.
- Holding four in a row with rolls left gives a fair chance at a large straight.
- Save Chance for a bad roll late in the game rather than spending it early.
Frequently asked questions
Is Five Dice free?
Yes — it plays free in your browser with no ads, no sign-in, and nothing to install.
Do I have to use all three rolls?
No. Score as soon as you like; any roll can go in any open box.
What if nothing fits?
You still fill a box — pick one you were unlikely to score well anyway and it records a zero.
Does my game save?
Yes, on this device. Close the tab mid-game and you will be offered your game back next time.
