How to play Cascade
Cascade is a falling-blocks puzzle played in a tall well, ten columns wide and twenty rows high. Shapes made of four blocks — the seven classic tetromino forms — fall one at a time from the top. Move each shape left and right and rotate it so the blocks fit neatly together. When you completely fill a horizontal row, it clears and you score; clear several rows at once for a much bigger bonus. The game ends when a new shape can no longer enter the well, so the goal is simply to last as long as you can and build the highest score.
On a computer, use the arrow keys to move and soft-drop, the up arrow (or Z and X) to rotate, and the space bar to hard-drop a piece instantly. On a touchscreen, use the buttons below the board, and tap the left or right half of the well to rotate. Clearing four rows in a single drop — a full Cascade — is the big score, and the speed ramps up as you clear more lines.
Strategy tips
- Keep the stack flat. An even surface gives you the most places to drop the next piece.
- Leave a well for the long piece. Keeping one column open lets you clear several rows at once for a big bonus.
- Use the Next preview. Plan your current move around the shape that's coming.
- Rotate near the floor. Last-moment rotations can slot a piece into an awkward gap.
- Don't bury holes. A covered empty cell is hard to recover — clear above it as soon as you can.
About Cascade
Cascade is SnackPack Studios' calm, ad-free take on the falling-blocks genre that began with Alexey Pajitnov's Tetris in 1984 — one of the most influential video games ever made. Like the rest of the SnackPack lineup, it's built to be a relaxing few minutes rather than a noisy grind: no ads, no tracking, just the puzzle. The full version, with a Turbo start mode and saved top scores, is part of the Snackpack Brain Games app.
