How to play Brick Breaker
Brick Breaker is the paddle-and-ball game that started with Breakout: a wall of bricks across the top of the screen, a ball, and your paddle along the bottom. Keep the ball bouncing, and every brick it touches breaks. Clear the whole wall to win. If the ball gets past your paddle you lose a life, and the next ball starts on your paddle again.
You aim with the paddle, not with spin. A ball that lands on the centre goes straight back up; the closer to an edge it lands, the steeper it flies, up to 60 degrees. That is how you reach the last brick in a corner, or work the ball into the gap above the wall where it can break several bricks on its own.
Modes
- Relaxed — a slow ball, four rows and five lives.
- Classic — five rows, the top row takes two hits, three lives.
- Expert — a faster ball, six rows with two tough rows, two lives.
- Endless — clear a wall and a taller, faster one appears, with a 50-point bonus each time.
Scoring
A brick that breaks scores 10 points for each hit it needed, so a tough brick is worth 20. A hit that only cracks a tough brick scores 5. Your best score is kept separately for each mode.
Tips
- Use the paddle's edges to steer. The centre is safe; the edges are how you aim.
- Open a channel at one side of the wall: a ball that gets above the bricks clears them from behind.
- Watch the ball, not the bricks. Move early towards where it will come down.
Frequently asked questions
Is Brick Breaker free here?
Yes — it plays free in your browser with no ads, no sign-in, and nothing to install.
Does it run faster on a fast screen?
No. The game runs 60 steps a second whatever your screen's refresh rate, so a 120 Hz phone plays the same as a 60 Hz laptop.
Is there a daily challenge?
Not for this one: it is a reflex game, so a shared daily wall would only compare reaction times. Try the daily puzzles on SnackPack Daily instead.
