Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to Snackpack Space Math on Android (package com.snackpackuniverse.spacemath), and to any future iOS release. Space Math is designed as a family-friendly learning app for children and teenagers. It does not require an account, keeps all learning progress on the device, and is built to be safe for younger players.
Information the app handles
- Learning progress and preferences: The app stores quiz best scores, unlocked zones, earned badges, collected cards, daily streak history, onboarding status, and settings such as colour scheme, text size, reduced motion, haptics, and the daily reminder. This information is saved locally on your device using the platform's standard app storage.
- Birth year: On first launch the app shows a neutral age screen asking for a year of birth. This is a year only, not a full date of birth. It is stored locally on the device, is never transmitted to SnackPack Studios, and is used only to decide whether to apply the under-13 protections described below. It can be changed or cleared at any time from Settings.
- Parent Zone PIN: If a parent or carer sets a PIN for the Parent Zone progress summary, that PIN is stored locally on the device. It is never transmitted to SnackPack Studios.
- Daily reminder settings: If you switch on the optional daily reminder, the app stores whether it is enabled and which of the three preset times you chose, and schedules a local notification on the device.
- Device-level technical information: Platform providers (Google Play, Apple) may process technical data such as device type, operating system version, IP address, crash reports, or diagnostics when needed to operate their services.
- Support contact information: If you email SnackPack Studios for support, the email address and information you include in your message may be received and retained for support purposes.
Information the app does not collect
- No account required: Space Math does not require you to create an account or sign in. There is no login of any kind.
- No advertising: The app does not show third-party ads and does not use the device advertising identifier (AD_ID), which is explicitly blocked in the app's Android configuration.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs: The app does not use third-party analytics, attribution, or cross-app tracking tools.
- No learning data collection: Space Math does not send quiz results, badges, streaks, collected cards, or preferences to SnackPack Studios servers. There is no backend for learning data.
- No name or email address: The app does not ask a player for their name, email address, postal address, phone number, or photograph. The only thing it asks for is the year of birth on the neutral age screen, which stays on the device.
- No microphone, camera, location, contacts, or photos: The app does not request access to the microphone (RECORD_AUDIO is explicitly blocked in the Android configuration), the camera, your location, your contacts, or your photo library.
- No social features: There are no user accounts, no chat, no comments, no leaderboards, and no user-to-user contact of any kind.
Local storage
Space Math is local-first and relies on on-device storage for learning progress, best scores, badges, collected cards, streaks, preferences, the birth year from the age screen, and the Parent Zone PIN, using the device's standard app storage. This information generally remains on your device until you reset it in the app, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. The app does not sync learning data to SnackPack Studios servers.
Notifications
Space Math offers one optional notification: a daily reminder tied to the streak system. It is off by default, it is switched on and off from Settings, and it can be turned off at the operating-system level at any time. It is not available at all to players who indicated on the age screen that they are under 13 — for that band the control is hidden and any previously scheduled reminder is cancelled. It is a local scheduled notification, not a push notification. There is no notification server, no push token is registered with SnackPack Studios, nothing is sent off the device to schedule it, and the app does not track whether a reminder was opened.
Internet use and bundled content
Almost all content in Space Math — questions, story books, illustrations, games, and fact cards — is bundled with the app and works offline. A small number of public-domain reference photographs used in the story library are loaded from Wikimedia Commons when the relevant page is opened. As with loading any image on the internet, that request makes your device's IP address visible to Wikimedia's servers; no information about you, your progress, or your device is added to the request by SnackPack Studios, and if the image cannot be loaded the app quietly falls back to bundled artwork. One story book renders an interactive visualisation inside an embedded web view; the content of that view ships with the app and does not load anything from the internet.
Neutral age screen
Space Math is a mixed-audience app: it is aimed at learners from about 9 through 17, which spans both children and teenagers. Before any other content is shown, the app asks for a year of birth on a plain, neutral screen — it does not suggest an answer, has no pre-selected default, and is not styled to encourage any particular response. The year is stored on the device and never transmitted. It is used for one purpose: deciding whether to apply the under-13 protections. For players in that band, the purchase screen is placed behind a parental gate and the optional daily reminder is switched off and cannot be enabled.
Parental gate
For players who indicated they are under 13, the app places a parental gate in front of the purchase screen. The gate asks the reader to enter a four-digit number that is written out in words, which is a reading task rather than an arithmetic one — deliberately, since this is a maths app and an arithmetic challenge would not be a meaningful barrier to its own users. The gate re-locks on every visit, collects no personal information, and transmits nothing off the device.
Parent Zone
Space Math includes a Parent Zone: a read-only summary of progress, protected by a PIN that a parent or carer sets on first use. The PIN is stored on the device only, is not transmitted anywhere, and can be reset from Settings. The Parent Zone does not collect personal information.
In-app purchases
The current version of Space Math does not offer in-app purchases. No billing SDK is configured and no purchase can be made in the app. If a premium unlock is added in a future release, purchases would be processed by the platform's billing system (Google Play Billing on Android, the App Store on iOS), SnackPack Studios would not receive or store payment card details, and this page and the Google Play Data safety disclosure would be updated before that release ships.
How information is used
- To operate the app: including saving learning progress, best scores, badges, collected cards, streaks, and preferences.
- To deliver the optional daily reminder: using the locally stored on/off setting and preset time.
- To maintain and improve the app: including fixing bugs and diagnosing crashes reported through the platform.
- To respond to support requests: if you contact SnackPack Studios directly.
Children's privacy
Space Math is designed for children and teenagers and is built to align with Google Play's Families policy and Apple's guidelines for kids' apps. It does not require an account, does not show ads, does not use the advertising identifier, does not use analytics or cross-app tracking SDKs, and asks for nothing beyond the year of birth on the neutral age screen. As a mixed-audience app it applies child treatment to everyone in the under-13 band: a parental gate on the purchase screen and no engagement notifications. Learning data stays on the device. SnackPack Studios does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a support email, contact us and we will delete it.
Sharing and disclosure
SnackPack Studios does not sell personal information. Information may be shared only when reasonably necessary to operate the app, to use standard platform services such as app distribution and crash handling, to comply with legal obligations, or to respond to lawful requests.
Retention and security
Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to help protect information handled by the app. Because Space Math keeps learning data on the device, retention is controlled by you: the data persists until you reset it in the app, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. Support emails may be retained for follow-up and recordkeeping.
Your choices
- App data: You can remove all locally stored data using the reset option in Settings, by clearing the app's storage in your device settings, or by uninstalling the app.
- Age setting: You can change or clear the stored year of birth at any time from Settings, which makes the age screen run again.
- Parent Zone PIN: You can reset the PIN at any time from Settings.
- Daily reminder: The reminder is off by default and can be switched off in Settings or in your device's notification settings.
- Haptics, motion, text size and colour: All are optional settings you control in the app.
- Support requests: You can choose whether to contact SnackPack Studios by email.
Requesting data deletion
Space Math stores learning progress, best scores, badges, collected cards, streaks, preferences, the birth year from the age screen, and the Parent Zone PIN on your device only, so resetting the app's data or uninstalling it removes that information completely. SnackPack Studios holds no copy and there is no account to close. For any information that could exist off-device — in practice, support emails you have sent — email privacy@snackpackuniverse.com and request deletion. Full step-by-step instructions are on the Space Math data deletion page.
Platform-specific privacy requirements
Space Math is distributed on Google Play and may also be submitted to the Apple App Store. The Google Play Data safety form and Families policy disclosures are kept consistent with the practices described here. If platform-specific privacy practices change in future releases, this page and the related store disclosures will be updated accordingly.
Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The version published on this page is the current version, and the effective date will be updated when material changes are made.
